James Thorpe specializes in the drafting and prosecution of patent applications and in providing validity, infringement, freedom to operate and patentability opinions, particularly in the field of life sciences and chemistry.
James was awarded his Ph.D. in Organic Chemistry from McGill University in 2023 where he worked on developing novel methods for improving the sustainability of oligonucleotide synthesis. He was first drawn to the field of intellectual property during his doctoral studies where he had the opportunity to file a patent based on his research. As an inventor himself, he brings a unique perspective that allows him to deliver high quality and technically sound advice for clients from all backgrounds.
