Privacy and Emerging Technologies Lawyer

We are seeking a lawyer to join our Emerging Technologies Group in Montreal or Quebec City. The successful candidate will be called upon to make a considerable impact for our clients in all sectors and of all sizes, ranging from technology start-ups to large corporations, both local and global, and with cutting-edge technologies in the world of emerging technologies (artificial intelligence, software, SaaS, personal information, cybersecurity, video games, e-commerce, etc.). This lawyer will also advise these companies on all legal and compliance aspects related to the protection of personal information, including data protection, privacy and cybersecurity.

REQUIREMENTS
- Two to five years’ experience as a technology and/or privacy and/or cybersecurity lawyer
- Member of the Quebec Bar
- Fluent in French and English, both written and spoken
- IAPP certification (CIPP, CIPM, CIPT) or other certification in privacy or information security – an asset
- Additional IT-related training (bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, programming certificate, code bootcamp or other related training) – an asset
- Concrete experience in mandates such as:
- Drafting and reviewing software and data-related contractual agreements (SaaS contracts, subscription contracts, license contracts, service contracts, software development contracts, DevOps contracts, etc.)
- Analysis of intellectual property chains of title and open source licenses.
- Analysis of Privacy Impact Assessments (PIAs) and development of recommendations for evaluated technology projects
- Drafting of privacy protection frameworks (policies, guidelines, procedures)
- Drafting of commercial contracts of all kinds
- Legal and privacy risk management advice
