MAJOR VICTORY FOR OUR CLIENT SONOS IN PATENT INFRINGEMENT CASE

2024-03-14

ROBIC represented Sonos before the Federal Court of Appeal in a patent litigation against Google. This important victory follows an earlier decision in favor of Sonos, handed down over a year ago by the Federal Court.

Google challenged three aspects of the original decision, principally the way certain terms were interpreted. The Federal Court of Appeal dismissed the appeal, finding that the Federal Court had not erred in its interpretation of the key terms of the patent.

This decision confirms the strength of the arguments put forward by ROBIC and reaffirms that Sonos did not infringe the Canadian patent in question owned by Google LLC. This conclusion demonstrates Sonos’ ongoing commitment to defend its intellectual property rights and maintain its leadership in the field of audio technologies.

We are proud to have represented Sonos and congratulate Camille Aubin, Joanne Chriqui, Dominique Nolet, Solène Bergeron and Élodie Dion.
